Your final full year before applying to college, 11th grade is the period when you’re expected to hone your niche. Our objective for 11th graders is to help them make achievements that culminate and distinguish their admissions profiles.
Guidance with niche advanced coursework selection for AP courses, IBDP, AS and A levels, CBSE/ISC streams, etc., along with open-access co-curricular courses. Tentative intended major (and minor) selection.
Guidance with exam registration—SAT vs. ACT as well as AP exams—and support from our trusted test prep partners, now that most elite universities are no longer test-optional.
Guidance with obtaining or creating at least one formal leadership position, whether as a member of E-board of a student organization, captain of an athletic team, or founder of a non-school entity. Guidance also with scaling up your capstone project to achieve measurable results, through sales, downloads, school/governmental recognition, media coverage, or some other form of external validation. Guidance also for student athletes to prepare a highlight reel for undergraduate coaches.
Targeted course modules, hosted by in-house doctorate-level subject matter experts, that meet weekly over several sessions and confer experiential learning within diverse fields such as physics or photography. As each course culminates in a project, you learn skills of professionalizing your capstone project for objective metrics of achievement and recognition.
Learn to publish a high school academic research paper that produces actual original knowledge, under in-house doctorate-level subject matter experts. Afterward, receive guidance in getting published by reputable academic journals, presenting your findings at a reputable academic conference, and obtaining letters of recommendation from academic mentors.
Strategy guidance for the final summer before you apply to college, including applications to advanced summer programs such as M&TSI, SUMaC, Wolfram, now that the age criteria have been met. Guidance with procuring internships and/or employment at top organizations within your specialty areas, then obtaining letters of recommendation from sponsors. College visits (where possible) to identify wants, needs, and ideal fit.
Guidance with identifying a potential long list of colleges to apply to, via Athena’s college research tool, as well as initial hooks for tentative essay topics, using the Athena reflection journal.
