Athena Academies and Pangea Internships

Summer 2026 Cohorts

Athena Academies and Pangea Internships

A selective summer of mentor-led inquiry, research craft, finance, design engineering, and real shipped work.

5academy tracks
9specialist mentors
8 weeksinternship cohorts

The promise

Designed for students ready to work beyond the classroom.

Students step into live intellectual rooms: reading like researchers, thinking like analysts, building like engineers, and presenting with the seriousness of a college-level portfolio.

Academies

Five compact studios of serious work.

01

From Adam Smith to Algorithms

Trace how economic thought moved from moral philosophy to markets, mathematical models, finance, textbooks, and algorithmic decision-making. Students ask where these ideas came from, who they served, and why questions of fairness, power, and justice disappeared from the centre of the subject.

Session focus
  • Read Locke, Adam Smith, Marx, Keynes, Hayek, and contemporary platform-economy examples through a seminar lens.
  • Debate capitalism, the Keynesian moment, neoliberalism, and the way algorithms now shape work, prices, attention, and opportunity.
  • End with a student-led final discussion on what a fairer economic system could look like.
Student output

A 500-700 word written piece connecting a historical economic idea to something happening in the world today.

Eureka Research Program

Learn the full process of academic research by producing a complete narrative review manuscript: a structured, referenced, argument-driven paper on a topic of the student's choice, with a real journal submission strategy.

Session focus
  • Define a focused review question, map the literature landscape, and identify a publishable research gap.
  • Search PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and Web of Science; build an annotated bibliography and literature matrix.
  • Draft, revise, peer-review, and prepare the manuscript for target journals with a cover letter strategy.
Student output

A submission-ready narrative review manuscript, target journal shortlist, cover letter draft, and 10-minute capstone presentation.

Equity Research Internship

In association with Vimana Capital, students experience the discipline of professional equity research: understanding a business deeply, studying its industry and financials, building a valuation view, and defending an investment recommendation.

Session focus
  • Understand analyst workflows, industry research, annual reports, investor presentations, and earnings-call transcripts.
  • Build a simple three-statement model and apply valuation methods including P/E, EV/EBITDA, and a simplified DCF.
  • Develop a Buy/Hold/Sell thesis, identify key risks, and prepare for expert-panel questioning.
Student output

A complete equity research report on a real listed company, a presentation record, internship certificate, and LOR consideration for top performers.

SolidWorks 3D CAD Program

Move from no prior CAD experience to independently sketching, modelling, and exporting a complete 3D part in SolidWorks, the industry-standard tool used across engineering, manufacturing, and product design.

Session focus
  • Navigate the SolidWorks interface, viewports, planes, feature tree, and document setup.
  • Create fully constrained 2D sketches with dimensions and geometric constraints, then convert them into solid 3D parts.
  • Use extrude, revolve, fillet, chamfer, hole wizard, and pattern tools before completing an independent final build.
Student output

A finished 3D model exported in STL, STEP, and DXF formats, ready for portfolio use, 3D printing, CNC, or further CAD learning.

05

Web App Development Program

Build a real, functional, deployed web application using the same modern stack behind production software: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React.js, Firebase or Supabase, and Vercel or Netlify for deployment.

Session focus
  • Start with responsive HTML, CSS, JavaScript, browser developer tools, and debugging foundations.
  • Learn React components, props, state, hooks, and user interaction through a small working application.
  • Connect to a backend, add authentication and live database behaviour, then deploy the final project online.
Student output

A live deployed portfolio application with a shareable URL, plus practical confidence in full-stack web development basics.
